I want to contact someone about x matter? Who should I talk to?
The GoMe is in the process of formalising a structure. However, there are some clear positions and people who you can contact regarding specific matters.
For all matters pertaining to issues regarding the GoMe website, and other related technical questions, Shimmerillion is the person to contact. For information about individual publications affiliated with the GoMe, a simple post to the forum will likely do the trick, as most affiliates have someone who reads the GoMe forum regularly.
We are also in the process of forming a Liaison council, with 4 Liaisons for each of the other Guilds, plus one Arbiter, who will oversee formal communications between Guilds, act as representative for groups outside the Guilds, and also arbitrate any possible accusations of bias or unfair play.
Only two of these five positions are currently filled, with Marten being the Liaison to the Guild of Writers, and Kerryth being the Liaison to the Guild of Maintainers. Any information these Guilds wish to impart to the Messengers should be forwarded to their respective liaison. People who would wish to volunteer the time to be a Liaison should either email or post on the GoMe forum
I want to get a news item to the GoMe ASAP. How should I do this?
There are three main ways you can do this.
- The first, and fastest way, is to go to the GoMe website at www.guildofmessengers.com. At the top of the page you will see a tab labelled ‘Submit’. Clicking on this Will bring up a page with the various ways you can submit information to the Guild. For news, you will want to click on the Submit news via our online form link.
This will bring you to the Submit News - Explorers page. Here, you can enter your avatar name, KI number (optional), the title for your story, and then your copy (actual story). Beneath this, you can also post a link o further information anywhere on the web.
Once you have posted, the news item will be uploaded to the GoMe RSS feed, and immediately disseminated to all websites and individuals who have subscribed to the feed. To prevent tampering with items, explorers are currently unable to edit their submission once it has been uploaded, so it is essential you make sure it is all correct before you hit the submit button. IF you do find yourself in the situation of having posted something you’re not happy with, simply post on the forums, or shoot an e-mail to guildofmessengers[at]gmail[dot]com. Our Webmistress Shimmerillion will get to it as soon as possible.
- The second way to submit news is to simply post in our forums in the “Submit News” section. Here, a Messenger will upload the news to the feed for you, and will also post if and when the news is incorporated into either GoMe productions or affiliated productions. Please note that, even though the Guild tries its hardest to get news out to the community as soon as possible, it can take some time before a particular item can be disseminated.
- The final way is to send an email to guildofmessengers[at]gmail[dot[com]. However, it is preferred option 1 or 2 is used before resorting to this option. In terms of news submission, the email should only be used for publicity request, for a request for your event to be posted on the GoMe calendar, or for information that is to be consider either "off the record" or "background," or is otherwise of a nature that you don’t want to be immeadiately disclosed to the public (e.g. an upcoming event that is supposed to be a secret but for which you want to tip the media off).
I’ve heard about a Newsletter that the GoMe is distributing that will continue post-MOUL. How can I subscribe?
Very simple. Go to this webpage http://messengers.sixpencemedia.com/list/, and enter in your details. When the Guild publishes a newsletter, you will automatically receive it via the email address that you provided. Please ensure that your email address is typed correctly when you submit it!
Please note that you will require a PDF viewer to read the newsletter. The most commonly used viewer, Adobe Acrobat Reader, is available for free download here: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
